Reading is Patriotic Youth Reading Program

We recently stumbled upon a youth reading program pioneered by the Cincinnati Chapter. After chatting with the original author of the program, we were granted permission to use their program in any way that we could "For the Good of the Order!" (Thank you Cincinnati Chapter!) Our Board of Management (BOM) has approved the initiation of our own "Reading is Patriotic!" Youth Reading Program.

The genius of this program is its simplicity. Any youth who reads any three reading-level-appropriate books about anything remotely associated with the American Revolution qualifies for a certificate suitable for framing. In addition to the reading, all they have to do is get an adult to send us an email. Then we get the honor of celebrating their accomplishment.

Once our tri-fold leaflet is finalized and published, please share it with schools, libraries, homeschoolers, churches, Scouts, friends, and family. Post it anywhere that Elementary or Middle School youth (or their parents) may happen to find it. Let's encourage some good old-fashioned patriotism in the next generation!

Email from Gregory D. Lucas, Vice Chairman- Veterans Committee NSSAR

Dear Compatriot Conrad,

On behalf of the National Veterans Committee, I would like to thank the Benjamin Franklin Chapter for submitting a USS Stark Memorial report for the past two years. According to the committee records, the Benjamin Franklin Chapter has submitted this report for the 2021 and 2022 contest years. The Veterans Committee appreciates that the chapter took the time to complete and submit the report. The information provided in the reports is used to improve the SAR’s mission of supporting our Veterans.

It is my sincere hope the Benjamin Franklin Chapter continues to submit a USS Stark Memorial report annually. The more chapters that submit reports, the more we know about how we are fulfilling our mission.

Please share our appreciation with your chapter members.
